TORONTO, Canada, January 13, 2022 – Clever Samurai™ Marketing Communications (CleverSamurai.com) has won a Platinum and two Gold in the 2021 MarCom Awards competition. The winning campaigns scored among the best of over 6000 entries from 41 countries, winning in the categories for talent attraction marketing, TV & video, and media relations/publicity. MarCom Awards is an international creative competition that recognizes outstanding achievement by marketing and communication professionals.

MarCom Platinum - Talent Attraction and Benefits & HR
The talent attraction campaign was developed in collaboration with Spectrum Health Care and consisted of attracting potential registered nurses to consider employment with a community nursing organization. The goal was to drive applications for open nursing positions in a time when there are labour shortages in many industries including health care. Work-life balance is a key driver in choosing employment within the sector and with the organization. Creatively, this manifested itself in a unique to Spectrum Health Care employment offer called ‘Flexible Days’. Flexible Days is the core of the strategy and the single-focus message being promoted to active and passive job seekers in the nursing profession.
MarCom Gold – TV and Video
A series of three tv and video productions were created in collaboration with Phantom Screens, for online and broadcast use. The premise behind the creative was to showcase people interacting with the product, facilitating a product demonstration, while the homeowner beams with home pride. The executions looked to establish three things: brand awareness, category comprehension and consumer curiosity to learn more about the product(s) of interest. Other media (e.g., website, etc.) provide more granular information on product features and benefits, how to buy, etc. The key to the campaign was addressing the deficit in product comprehension, conservatively assuming customers had zero category understanding.
MarCom Gold - Media Relations/Publicity
In collaboration with Huntsman Building Solutions, Clever Samurai secured, often created and placed extensive thought-leadership and editorial content in digital (and companion print) media focused on technical target audiences of architects, specifiers, building engineers, contractors, property and facility managers and institutional/portfolio building owners. The goal was to build brand equity within the category and showcase Huntsman Building Solutions subject matter experts. Efforts centered on the Canadian market, a huge purchaser of spray foam due to the climate. Various podcasts and sixty (60+) articles were pitched, secured, written, and placed in both English and French media.
The Platinum Award is presented to those entries judged to be among the most outstanding entries in the competition. Platinum Winners are recognized for their excellence in terms of quality, creativity, and resourcefulness. The Gold Award is presented to those entries judged to exceed the high standards of the industry norm.
